Snacks for the Open Road: What the Passenger Princess Packs

Let’s be real, if you ride two-up the one in the back, aka The Passenger Princess, has one job, keep the vibes high and the sugar levels higher to keep the ride going. When my Passenger Princess rolls out she’s loaded down with snacks that are easy to eat while flying down the road.

Here is a list of the different snacks she keeps depending on the ride we are taking.

Gummy Worms - The OG Road Trip MVP

Tangy, stretchy, and sticky in the best way, these are her go to for almost every trip! Perfect for mid-ride sugar hits or flinging them at your rider when they miss a turn.

Gummy Bears - Because She’s Classy Like That

There’s something oddly comforting about a tiny bear made of gelatin. Stick them in the pocket of your jacket or vest, softening them up from the warmth makes them the perfect snack for the road. And who would turn down a gummy bear after 100 miles of backroads and bug splatters, they have a way of brightening your day during the roughest of rides.

Nerds Gummy Clusters - For When She’s Feeling Extra

Imagine if candy and chaos had a baby. That’s the Nerds Gummy Clusters. They are like a rave for your taste buds, and yes they will get stuck in your teeth - but it’s worth it. These are the emergency morale booster when your rider missed the scenic overlook for the third time.

Peanut M&Ms - The Crunchy Ride or Die

When you need fuel and flavor, these are the gold standard. Portable and nearly melt proof (except in full desert sun), and packed with enough protein to justify eating a half a bag before noon. They’re sweet, salty, and crunchy - a road snack trifecta. The downside, you always run out just when you need them the most.

Beef Sticks - Because Sugar Can’t Do It All

Every Passenger Princess needs her protein. A good beef stick is the salty, smokey balance to all the candy chaos. Whether it’s a classic Slim Jim or some locally sourced, grass-fed, teriyaki (favorite) masterpiece, this is the anchor of the snack lineup. Don’t underestimate it.

Pro Tip: Snack Storage Matters

A good Passenger Princess doesn’t just toss snacks in the saddle bag and call it good. You have to have a system. Think strategically placed pockets in your vest, jacket, or fanny pack, and maybe an emergency gummy worm stashed in your helmet liner for those situations.

So the next time you throw a leg over the bike and your Passenger Princess climbs aboard, give a nod of respect. She’s not just riding back there for the view - she’s keeping morale (and blood sugar) high, one snack at a time!
